Women's Coats: 47 of the Best Chic Styles for Years to Come
by gemma prior
Timeless women’s coats are like the icing on the cake when it comes to creating a minimalist wardrobe. The pieces that pair with
so much that’s already in your wardrobe and will remain relevant for many years to come.
I think it’s safe to say winter coats are something most of us need. In some parts of the world, the need will be for heavy coats to
battle the freezing winters, and in other areas, like where I live, a lighter coat is all that’s required.
We don’t need many winter coats, just a couple, chosen well, will see us through the colder months.
Of course, generally, they are the more expensive pieces in our wardrobe. But when chosen well, both by design and quality, and looked
after, we will be wearing them for many winters.
This is another reason why shopping secondhand fashion is such a winner: an opportunity to find well-made pieces at more affordable prices.
I've collected hundreds of secondhand
stores
and share them on With Bogart if you're looking for places to go. And I've also included a collection of pre-loved coats for you to check
out further down in this blog.
People often refer to purchasing ‘investment’ pieces, which is certainly a legitimate term if the pieces we buy are built to
last.
But when we’re not in a position to purchase more expensive pieces, there are other ways to improve the longevity of the fashion we
buy.
For instance, buying pieces, whether coats or something else, that were purchased with the intent of enjoying them for the long term. Pieces
that aren’t meeting short trends but that you can see yourself wearing for years.
I’ve gone searching for the best coats to meet all needs and have found 47 timeless chic pieces, both new and pre-loved, for you to
explore.
If you’re a regular visitor to my blog or follow me on Instagram, you may know that my focus is on making our wardrobes more
sustainable, more ethical. I share ideas and brands to support both.
But you may also notice that some of the pieces I share in my blog, don’t rank well when it comes to their sustainability. I do this
because I recognise that for some people it’s very hard to buy more expensive pieces of clothing that have a better ranking.
So when I share fashion that's not where it should be in terms of quality, sustainability, and ethics, I only share pieces that
are minimalist in style and not based on short-term trends. Therefore, these pieces will continue to serve well in your wardrobe. This
isn’t as good as buying sustainable fashion, but it’s certainly better than heading for on-trend items that quickly stop
appealing to you, and potentially end up as waste.
